This teamwork culminated in an event called the “Garlic Party,” with a live DJ set, playing what we called “garlic music.” People could enter the garlic tent to see a video projection of the garlic moving inside the tent, while dancing to garlic music. &nbsp; The idea for the collaboration began when I saw Christine’s apple watch design for a garlic clock. It was a wonderful exploration into how simple natural forms can move on a small interface and create complex and fascinating visual experiences. I decided to make a flourescent tent, inspired by her apple watch design. In the end, the Garlic Party was a spectacular event that both confused people and encouraged them move and dance inside/ around a strange object in the center of the room. Princeton University is a private Ivy League research institution that invests in the distribution of toxic compounds such as petroleum and diesel oil.&nbsp;This exhibition, which was located in Princeton University, is about extractive industries and their power over the body, childhood play, fungi, and dancing.” Mycoremediation was my final solo exhibition at Princeton. The installation featured a water system with black ink moving from the pond, up the central wall, and then through the wire body. The show’s opening featured a live DJ set with silent headphones, and a number of dance performers. Visitors walked into the space and were confronted with the following phrase:&nbsp; “The world is burning, &nbsp; Is that all there is to it,&nbsp; Let us dance ?” People needed to choose whether to put on the headphones and dance within the space, taunting the sickly sculpture which was stuck to the oil system, or observe and feel the stuckness of the figure. The drawing features Naussau Hall, the central and most-well known building at Princeton, merged with imagery of Linden Power Plant, a natural gas plant in New Jersey.&nbsp; Although the themes in this work were quite dark, the drawing process felt playful and imaginative. The subject matter of the art spanned different levels of seriousness, from climate change and mental health, to capitalist urban design, to beans and mushrooms. &nbsp; The most exciting aspect of the chalk nights was the low-stakes, temporary, and public nature of the work. I was able to get visuals and thoughts out that I felt were most intriguing to me that week, with very little planning beforehand. The chalk art lasted only about 4 days, allowing for more risk taking and directness in my work. Addtionally, I felt that that the chalk art was impacting the culture of the school, with many people commenting and discussing the work with me in the following days.&nbsp; <img width="1983" Representable works to fight gerrymandering, redlining, and other problems created from a lack of transparency in political processes. Representable is a relatively small startup environment in which I took on a lot of different design roles. I was able to work in the following areas:&nbsp; Logo Design UX/UI DesignGraphic DesignUsability ResearchAccessibility Research My favorite part about working at Representable was being able to work so closely with both community acitivists and software engineers. In a small startup environment, there are a lot of opportunities for translation between different languages and modes of thinking. As a designer, I really expanded my communication skills and understanding of the different needs in the non-profit world and website development sphere.
